How to hook up DVI-to-HDMI Digital Video Cable? - hdmi video cable

I bought a Dynex ® - 6 'DVI-HDMI Digital Video cable to connect my MacBook Pro to my HDTV. I have my computer connected to the DVI and HDMI receiver, but do not know how the TV-equipped screen. I tried to see the Enter key to whether a record is different, but not here. What am I doing wrong? Is there another cable I need? Do I need to connect to the TV screen instead of the receiver?
